The artist who made this cane used diamond willow and part of a deer horn for the handle. Darrell is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe. He has lived on the reservaion all his life. He is retired now but still spends a lot of time in the mountains so he searches for diamond willow to make canes and walking sticks. Darrell peels, sands, varnishes and polishes the cane which brings out the unique designs of the diamond willow. With this one he added a small 3 tip deer hom for the handle and a rubber sole for grip. |
