The artist who made this diamond willow cane is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe. He has lived on the reservation all his life and is now retired. He makes canes and walking sticks as a hobby. Darrell still spends a lot of time in the mountains and searches for the diamond willow. He peels, sands, varnishes and polishes the diamond willow. Each cane or stick has it's own unique designs which comes to surface after the work is done. Darrell added a deer horn for the handle which has a small horn tip on the side to hold on to better. Than he added a rubber sole for grip. |
